|
The Alexandra Institute is unique within the IT area. Educational institutions and public authorities have joined up with private companies to create a limited company, the purpose of which is to strengthen IT research, development, knowledge sharing and education. The objective of The Alexandra Institute is to build bridges between IT research and industry for the benefit of both parties. Through membership of The Alexandra Institute, companies have access to the latest information in a number of areas where the Aarhus region has a leading role internationally within IT, e.g. software development, user interface and computer-supported cooperative work. |

Cooperation within the framework created by the institute gives researchers and students the possibility of testing new theories and ideas in practice and of finding inspiration when looking for new ways of presenting problems. The close contact between researchers and industry also means that commercially interesting research results can be spotted earlier. The Alexandra Institute is a catalyst for creative communication between industry, research and education. Alexandra short-circuits existing knowledge structures and creates direct contacts between people with a high level of knowledge about technology, IT applications, customer needs and product development. In these multidisciplinary environments new ideas emerge. Members of The Alexandra Institute include Bang & Olufsen, Danfoss, TDC, Terma Elektronik, Grundfos and Nokia.
