The School of Nursing in Århus With its 800 students and 50 teachers, the School of Nursing in Århus is one the largest nursing colleges in Denmark. Located in the northern part of Århus, the newly furnished school has excellent study facilities.

In addition to providing basic training for nurses, we also offer further training at our course department which is also one of the largest in the country. Here, students can take the diploma examination in clinical healthcare and a number of nursing and pedagogical courses. The education offered, which is based on the latest research results and the most up-to-date knowledge available, is internationally comparable to a bachelor’s degree. The connection to the research environment is ensured by means of a development initiative for the School of Nursing in the County of Århus.

The training course lasts three and half years, following which the newly trained nurse possesses the necessary skills and qualifications to start work immediately as well as having access to number of studies in nursing science at university. Throughout the training, focus is on the subject of nursing. In addition to this, students are also taught natural science, humanities, health science and social science (see the list below). The clinical part of the training primarily takes places at the university hospitals in Århus and at county and municipal institutions.

At the School of Nursing in Århus, the training consists of both lectures and classroom training where students work individually, in groups and on projects – with the teacher serving as a tutor. At the School of Nursing in Århus, we make a point of providing students with a solid theoretical base and good skills. Our teachers are all specialists within their respective fields, thus ensuring high professional standards. The foundations of the good skills are laid from the very beginning, as the students already start their clinical training after just a few weeks. Being a nurse is very demanding. For this reason, we demand a lot from our students who are expected to complete many tests and written assignments in the course of their training.
