High quality for the food and animal feed industries
|
Cargill A/S not only enjoys spectacular views of the Bay of Århus and Marselisborg Woods from its premises at the East Harbour in the Port of Århus; the company is also ideally located to receive the coasters which dock with rape and sunflower seed.
The raw materials are pressed into an edible oil of a very high quality as well as fatty oil cakes for the animal feed industry. The oil is sold to the food industries of Northern Europe where it is used in the production of margarine, salad oil and bakery products. Cargill A/S annually processes approximately 200,000 tonnes of raw materials of which 80 per cent is transported by sea. |

The rape is bought mainly in Denmark, Northern Germany, Poland and the Baltic countries while the sunflower seed comes from Russia and the Ukraine.
In addition to being an importer of rape and sunflower seed, Cargill A/S is also one of Denmark’s largest importers of soya meal, primarily from South America.
Each month, up to 55,000 tonnes of soya are imported and sold to the Danish animal feed industry. The Århus office is also responsible for marketing soya products from Cargill’s factories in Holland and Belgium on the Baltic markets.

Cargill’s 90,000 employees market, process and distribute raw materials from the agricultural industry to food and animal feed industries all over the world. In Århus, Cargill has entered into a joint venture with Scanola A/S, which processes the rape and the sunflower seed into oil and oil cakes, using an environmentally friendly pressing method without the use of additives.
The objective is to become the leading manufacturer of processed agricultural products for the food and animal feed industries. This objective is to be met by constantly striving to improve and by identifying new opportunities and solutions for the benefit of the company’s customers.
