Aarhus – a new transport centre for Icelandic fish Fishing is the principal industry and primary export business of Iceland. It is therefore vital to maintain the high quality, which is characteristic of Icelandic fish products, during transport to the buyers. The vessels “Dettifoss” and “Godafoss”, owned by the transport and investment company Eimskip, play a key role in this regard. The two vessels are based in Reykjavik, and every week they alternately call at Tórshavn (Faroe Islands), Rotterdam, Hamburg, Aarhus, Gothenburg and Fredrikstad (Norway) carrying bulk fish containers. They then return to Tórshavn and Reykjavik carrying other cargo.
