The best place to study in Denmark

With more than 40,000 students, Aarhus is one of the most important educational centres in Denmark. Just over 10 per cent of the city’s inhabitants are thus students in short-term, medium-term or long-term further education.

Broad variety of study programmes and subjects

The University of Aarhus, the Aarhus School of Business and Aarhus Business College are just some of the institutions spearheading the educational sector in Aarhus and which are attract-ing attention both nationally and internationally. The city has more than 25 institutions offering training and education after lower/upper-secondary education. This means that Aarhus is able to offer a wide range of study programmes at a very high level and within many different fields of study.

Stronger collaboration between education and the business
In recent years a number of central initiatives have been launched which are designed to strengthen collaboration between educational institutions and the business community in Aarhus.

The most marked example is the establishment of the largest meeting place for stud-ents – www.studenterhusaarhus.dk – at the old customs building (Toldboden) at the Port of Aarhus. Toldboden also houses the student accommodation service (Kollegiekontoret) as well as a number of relevant organisations, including erhverv århus, VisitAarhus, Århus City Forening etc.

The Municipality of Aarhus has set up a portal – www.uddanaarhus.dk – which provides infor-mation about all that the city has to offer as a centre of education for present and future stud-ents. For example, the portal contains links to all institutions of education in Aarhus. At the same time, the portal provides information about jobs for students, trainee positions and business-related projects, thereby helping to strengthen links between the business community and the educational sector.

Housing guarantee for new students
The housing guarantee means that young people who do not live in the local area and who come to study in Aarhus are guaranteed a place to live in the municipality by the time they start their studies or shortly afterwards. You can read more about the guarantee at

www.kollegie8000.dk
